The Shanghai Center will be the tallest building in the world when it is finished, if it gets finished.
How tall will it be, Bill?
It will be 580 meters tall, 118 stories, 72 meters higher than Taipei 101 Tower and 25 meters taller than the future 555-meter-tall future tallest building in the world until the Shanghai Center is finished - the Burg Dubai skyscraper - still under construction.
How tall is 580 meters, Bill?
That's 253.72 Yao Ming's tall?
It's six football fields laid end to end, then turned straight up.
It's tall enough to be considered the modern day tower of Babel, except the builders all speak one language.
It's tall enough to parachute from, to need sherpas to help you to the top.
It will have two short neighbors - the 421-meter Jin Mao Tower and the 492-meter Shanghai World Financial Center.
Question - theoretically asking. Just how tall can a building go?
Anybody know?

It looks impressive - especially from the Jinmao observation deck. I'm glad the designers chose to make the Shanghai Center actually look nice - unlike the ugly Jinmao. (My opinion of course)
