US-China Cooperation on Clean Energy

US-China Cooperation on Clean Energy

If there are no more policy obstacles in the future, there will be more than 10 billion contracts signed between China and the US on clean energy by the end of 2008. (billion?)

The US and China consume nearly 50% of the world's energy. Both of the countries are particularly valuable to global supple shocks and have common interests in working together.

China president Jintao Hu says: "We should build consensus and conduct cooperation on this basis. This will enable us not only to promote sustainable development in our region but also boost the global efforts to address climate change."

The US-China Clean Energy Forum was launched yesterday in Beijing, China. More than 200 people attended the meeting. 16 companies came from the US, led by David Bohigian, the assistant secretary of the US Department of Commerce.

China has great demands for equipment, materials and technologies in the field of the clean energy.

Do you think clean energy is 'big business?'
