露 lu马 ma 脚 jiao - Show the cloven hooves

The phrase comes from an old Chinese tale about a horse which disguised itself as a unicorn to gain the favor of the emperor.

At a critical time the horse was found out and ordered to punished and bridled.

Now, the phrase is used to describe when someone betray's thie own identity or when intrigue is exposed.

To be sure, there are a lot of workers in large companies who will someday have their clovened hooves exposed….or not.
