IOC Slaps Tokyo 2016 Olympic Bid Committee with Warning for Intelligence Gathering
The 2016 Tokyo Olympic Bid Committee was slapped with a warning, the lightest of three levels, by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
It seems that the chair of Tokyo 2016 was in Brazil visiting the chairman of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (BOC) and did a bit of intelligence gathering on the side.
Tokyo's man asked Brazil's chairman why they (BOC) wanted to host the Games AND the 2014 FIFA World Cup?
The BOC reported the question to the IOC saying, "This action runs against the code of conduct which stipulates that cities making a bid (to host the Olympic
Games) should respect other bidding cities."
Japan's chairman responded, "We humbly accept the warning, which is tantamount to receiving a yellow card."
Is there any chance that Tokyo has to land the Games just 8 years after they are being held in Asia?
