5 Reasons Why Students in China Opt to Not Get a Post-Graduate Degree
Chinese students are wanting to do post-graduate work at a lesser number this year than in the previous 10 years. The number, 1.2 million applicants is off 6% from last year.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) attributes the decline to:
1. fewer employment opportunities for graduates with masters and PhDs.
2. a new focus on real ability as opposed to education qualifications
3. companies wanting to save money - undergrads with the same ability as a grad or post grad will cost less.
4. fewer free rides for post graduate students.
5. students heading overseas to study
Hmm…practical ability versus a higher education degree.
Which would you choose?
