
Toyota Motor Corp. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. have submitted plans for environment-friendly cars to Thailand.
Honda Motor Co., Suzuki Motor Corp. and Nissan Motor Co. already have approval from Thailand for their eco-car production plans.
Bangkok has offered tax breaks plans for automakers who's cars and plans meet specific requirements.
1. Gasoline engines of 1.3 liters or smaller,
2. fuel efficiency of at least 20km per liter
3. plans to make at least 100,000 units a year.![]()
Mitsubishi Motors will invest around Y20 billion yen and Toyota will invest around Y17 billion.
Both automakers may also construct dedicated facilities to produce the vehicles in Thailand.
The other three will begin making the cars as soon as 2010.
80% of the cars made in Thailand will be exported.
