I didn't think it was possible for the two countries, Japan and China, to get all their ducks in a row in time for PM Fukuda to visit China before the end of the year.
I was wrong.
Looks like PM Fukuda is going to Beiing for about 4 days, from Dec. 27th-30th.
There are 6 items they want to discuss.
Strengthening:
1. economic cooperation
2. cooperation in energy
3. cooperation in the environmental fields
---
4. Resolving differences on the issue of gas reserves in the East China Sea
5. Agreements on promoting exchanges at youth and popular (think entertainment) levels.
6. Discussing global warming (kind of like talking about UFOs) issues![]()
After Yasukuni Shrine visitor, Koizumi stepped down, his successor Abe and now Fukuda have done much to smooth relations.
The biggest step, just staying away from Yasukuni Shrine.
What do you think Japan and China need to cooperate on most?
