Toyota Doubles Efforts in St. Petersburg, Inax Expands to India, Dubai
Toyota Motor Co. will double its efforts by building a 2nd assembly plant in Russia's St. Petersburg. (Been there, when it was still Leningrad.)
After completion of this second plant, built adjacent to an existing plant, Toyota will become the largest automaker in Russia, surpassing General Motors in terms of local production.
Toyota will also use the plant as an export base.
The plant will roll out the RAV4, Corolla and Yaris (Yitz in Japan).
Cars will be transported across Russia's trans-Siberian railway. Hopefully they will have a good book or two or three on the way. It's a long trip.
Russia's auto market grew by 34% over last year. Toyota stands at number three, for now, behind GM and Ford.
Meanwhile - In 2008, Inax Corp., maker of tile and bathroom units, will start selling its products in India with H.&R. Johnson (India) Ltd., that country's No. 1 tile supplier.
The Sharaf Group in Dubai will be the Dubai partner.
Inax sales are up 12% this year. And a three-fold growth in foreign sales is hoped for by 2010.
Japan sells quality to the world, no doubt.
What do you own that was made in Japan?
