Singapore University and Japanese Company See 10GHz Processing in 3-5 Years

Unisantis of Japan is working in cahoots with Singapore's Institute of Microelectronics (IME).

The two think they are on to something - the Stacked Gate Transistor (SGT) which will allow processors to move at 10-50GHz.

To think that right now I have 1gig and feel like I am buzzing along.

Double that is not a big thing anymore.

How about 10 times the speed?  Or 50 times the speed?10.processor.jpg

According to BizToolBelt, the new SGT transistor, is a 3D one that will also have a bigger storage capability and is just about 3-5 years away.
