Gazprom Will Build NG Pipeling to Sea of Japan

by admin on December 26th, 2007

Gazprom is Russia's state-controlled gas company.

The company is planning to lay a pipeline that will carry natural gas from Siberia to the Sea of Japan coast.

That gas, in turn, will be exported to Japan and other Asia-Pacific markets.

The plan was unveiled by the deputy chairman of Gazprom's management committee.

The pipeline wil start at gas fields in the Sakha Republic and terminate at Vladivostok. They will pass through Khabarovsk.

The amount of gas to be carried will be discussed later. Production at large gas fields in the Sakha Republic will start in 2016.

Of course, by then Russia will be able to change its mind if it feels like it, again, and again, and again.

Or maybe, they can form a joint company with Japan to build the pipeline, then force Japan to sell their interest.

Do you think Russia can be trusted to keep promises when it comes to business?
