China Film Group Welcomes Hollywood Movies

by admin on December 17th, 2007

The China Film Group Corporation(CFGC) denied that China has stopped granting permission for U.S. films to be screened on the mainland.

The NY Times reported that the Chinese government was no longer approving American movies for next year's release because of "apparent trade dispute."

The Chinese response - "I have never heard of such a thing, that is, my company hasn't received any instruction of the kind."

Last month, "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "Live Free or Die Hard) were screened.

None are scheduled for next month.

Last year, China's box office revenue was $337.8 million, about 40% of that fromchina.film.group.jpg foreign films.

"Spiderman 3" and "Transformers" mad $54.1 million U.S. dollars.

Do you think the Chinese cinema industry is/feels threatened by Hollywood?
