China adds lift to Toyota 2008 Projections

by admin on December 19th, 2007

Booming sales in China, the Middle East, India and other emerging economies are the reason Toyota thinks it can sell almost 10 million vehicles next year.

Toyota Motor Corp. is projecting global production/sales of almost 10 million vehicles next year.

That number of sales will be high enough to outpace U.S. rival General Motors Corp. to make Toyota the world's biggest automaker.

Toyota plans to output in 2008 9.95 million vehicles worldwide.

In November Toyota said its worldwide sales totaled 7.05 million vehiclestoyota.china.gm.jpg for the first nine months of this year compare to GM which sold 7.06 million vehicles during the same period.

Toyota might pass GM this year. Toyota is projecting 9.42 million unit sales and GM is projecting 9.26 million.

Toyota will pass GM and China, and India will help.
