Boom in Chinese Tourists to the United States Expected in 2008

by admin on December 4th, 2007

More Chinese tourists are expected to visit the United States next year, despite the fact that China's travel industry is prohibited from marketing the United States as a travel destination.

A crack down on the entry process after 9/11 is blamed.

The US says its necessary for national security.

Still, 110,000 Chinese visited LA last year. And that number is expected to rise since China has a much bigger and growing middle and upper class.

Beijing and the US Commerce Department have been working on a deal to ease

entry restrictions and lift the ban in China on promoting travel to the United States.

That deal is expected to be signed by the end of this year.2008.games.beijing.jpg

If/when it happens, the flood gates could fly open and visitors start pouring in.

Beijing is already expecting a crowd of its own for the Beijing Summer Olympic Games next year.

Why not share the wealth?
