Toyota Takes Aim at GM, VW in China Market

China's market leaders for car sales are GM (1 million) and VW (900,000).

Toyota's goal is 10% of the Chinese market by 2010.

Based on the first 10 months, Toyota Motor Corp thinks it will do 11% better than its stated goals at the beginning of the year.

The previous goal was 430,000 cars. The new number is 480,000.

Sales for the year areup 67% over last year.


Country-wide car sales are up 24% by comparison.

Working with FAW Corp and Guangzhou Automobile Corp, Toyota's annual production in China is now at 640,000.
