Zhang Ziyi Takes Hong Kong Citizenship

by BBelew57 on September 24th, 2007

Beijing-born, 28-year old Zhang Ziyi, has successfully become a Hong Kong resident.

Under the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (Scheme being the operative word, I presume) Zhang Ziyi joins two other mainland celebrities who have become Hong Kongites…Lang Lang and Li Yundi are the other two.

In short, Zhang Ziyi can set up house in Hong Kong without any local-based employment.

She was accepted because of her contribution to Hong Kong's film industry.

She has starred with top local actors, Jackie Chan and Tony Leung. She won best actress at the 2005 Hong Kong Film Awards for her role in "2046."zhang.ziyi.ang.lee.jpg

Ang Lee is credited with helping ZZ reach an international audience by giving her a role in the 2000 martial-arts blockbuster "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

Do you think it is right to give celebrities this kind of special treatment?
