Hydrogen Fuel Bike Debuts in Shanghai

by BBelew57 on September 6th, 2007

A concept bike that runs on environmentally clean hydrogen fuel was unveiled in Shanghai yesterday.

Shanghai Pearl Hydrogen Power Source Technology Co showed off its fuel-cell bike at the 9th China International Exhibition on Gas Technology, Equipment and Applications.

The bike was completed just last month and owners are individuals keen on clean energy.

However…overseas inquiries and trial orders are trickling in.

Compared to an electric bike, the hydrogen bike only needs about 30 minutes to refill the gas bottles.

The battery tank and gas bottles are only half the weight of battery used on electric bikes.

The bike costs 20,000 yuan ($2,632) but …will go down if mass produced.

The core technology could be used on motorbikes and golf carts.

The biggest problem is…where you going to fill the thing up at.

Presently, refills have to be ordered from local suppliers.
