General Motors Signs $800 million Export Deal

by BBelew57 on September 25th, 2007

General Motors says they have inked a deal to boost its exports to China of U.S. made vehicles and auto parts by more than $800 million.

Only problem…GM is not rolling out any cars these days.

Can you say "Thank you, UAW!"

Included in the deal is th Buick branded sports utility vehicle, Enclave in the US, which will be imported by Shanghai GM.

Shanghai is GM's joint venture with China's largest auto maker SAIC Group.

GM cars will be sold through its network of nearly 400 Buick dealerships across China.gm.china.jpg

Earlier this year GM signed a deal to export $700 million worth of luxury sedan Cadillacs and auto components.

Last year, GM and its joint ventures sold a record 876,747 units - up 31.8% from the previous year.

GM has (had?) 11.8% of the market share.

Thanks to the UAW, it will go down quickly.

What do you think of GM cars?
