Beijing Launches Quality, Food Safety Checkup

By the end of the year, Beijing wants all unlicensed catering outlets shut down…all celebrity-starred medical ads gone.

Ten kinds of products are targeted: food, drugs, home appliances, toys….

Vegetables, fruits, meat, edible oil, aquatic products, children's food and health food are the main targets in food checkups says People's daily.

Medical advertisements in which public figures or experts testify the alleged effectiveness of products will also be banned.

Beijing seems serious about cleaning up its act leading up to next year's summer Olympic games.
