Ikea Mainland Stores See Sales Soar 38%

by BBelew57 on August 30th, 2007

There's a reason why Ikea is the world's biggest furniture retailer.

Everything you buy there is either already broken or wil break within a year and need replacing.

But in China, sales are up 37% during the fiscal year - Sep - Aug.

The Swedish junk, er, furniture maker' four mainland retailers have served up 14.8 million visitors…some just wanting Chill at an IKEA Furniture Stores…while sales climbed. ikea.china.jpg

Ikea has new outlets planned for Nanjing, Shenzhen and Dalian next year and wants to have 10-15 stores by 2010.

If/when they put one in Dalian, visitors will come to stay warm.

Ikea first opened in China in 1998 and has cut prices by 54% since then. More price cuts are expected as are more customers and more sales.

What is your experience with Ikea?
