Heat-Resistant Flowers for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games

Rose, "Sweety! I sure am hot!"

Flora, "Eat your heart out, smelly. I can handle this heat and then some."

Rose, "How's that you can do that?"

Flora, "Good upbringing, I reckong. I have been cultivated to be a heat-resistant flower. "

Rose, "Huh!?"

Flowers grown by an American company are on display at a garden expo in Beijing.

Gardening science and technology achievements for the 2008 Olympics - new plant materials, flowers for decoration

and roof greenery are being tested.

"And, Lily sets a new Olympic record for endurance….104 degrees and she hasn't withered yet!!"

I wonder…who thinks of these things.

"Gee, maybe we can toughen up this little gardenia so that the heat won't get to it."

It definitely would never cross my mind.
