China's first homemade, completely independent intellectual property-righted 1.5 megawatt wind-power generator is spinning - puff puff!
The price for a similar product would be at least 20% higher than the one manufactured by joint ventures, said the Guangdong Mingyang Wind Power Technology Co Ltd.
The generator is designed for China's climate and can withstand
typhoons, sand storms and extremely low temperatures.Did someone think to tell the typhoons and sand storm makers?
The company has orders for 250,000 kilowatts of wind-power generators valued at $210.5 million.
China's wind power resource exceeds 1 billion kilowatts and the Guangdong Mingyang Electric Group Co Ltd. thinks they can supply 1,000 wind power generators annually by 2010.
But is wind power economically efficient? Last I heard, not yet.
But, maybe at made-in-China prices the bottom line is different.
