$12,000 Funeral for a Stray Dog

Another sign of the times?

How about a professor in China spending $12,000+ to hold an elaborate funeral for a stray dog?

A man in his late 30's who lost his wife 5 years previously and lived apart from his kids moved to the northern port city of Dalian.

One day while out for a walk, a mutt began to follow him...so, he decided to adopt it.mutt.gif

However, within 3 months the dog died.

"It brought me so much joy, just like a family member. I could hardly bear losing it. Holding a decent funeral for it was

the only thing I could do in its memory,"  he said.

Decent funeral? The man spent more than $12,000 to bury the stray.

I wonder how much he would have spent had the dog lived?

How much do you spend on your pets?
