The 84-year old former president of Taiwan is taking advantage of his platform in Japan to rankle China.
The old fogie says Japan should:
1. work hard to have the power to compete with China on an equal footing - (Japan can already compete with China.)
2. take political leadership in East Asia (Japan is not a leader when it comes to human relations)
3. show him the way to Yasukuni Shrine (his elder brother is enshrined there and China as well as South Korea HATE it anytime someone of importance visits the shrine where Japanese war criminals are entombed as well.)![]()
Tokyo switched diplomatic ties from Taipei to Beijing in 1972.
Diplomatic ties aside....Japan and Taiwan have good business relations.
China wants the renegade province back in the fold and won't mind using military force if necessary.
