The Winner - The Fastest to Cross Han Solo

by BBelew57 on May 14th, 2007

I am not sure crossing Han Solo would make someone a winner in a distant galaxy, but in Seoul, Korea it did.

Contestants - 14 men and four women, from eight different countries such as China, Russia, the United States and, of course, the home country, Korea competed to cover 1,000 meters on a tightrope over the Han River in Seoul…solo.

The winner got $15,000 and the prestige of also making it over the longest distance ever and, not to mention, saying I crossed Han solo.

The wire was…a pultry 1.2" thick…about the width of an average person's big toe.

A Chinese dude, Abdusataer Dujiabudula, lead off with a finish time of about 11 minutes. Additional prize money for anyone who can say his name.

In last place was Alexey Marchenko of Russia who fell into the drink with about 164 feet to go…and survived.

The height of the wire was about 72 feet above the river.

I can't even balance myself on a bicycle, much less a cable stretched across a river, a cliff or anything else more than a foot off the ground.

The Chinese dude won with a final time of 11 minutes 22.49 secs, but nobody could announce it.
