Four-Year Ban on Japanese Rice Lifted in China

by BBelew57 on April 11th, 2007

This can be a win-win for China and Japan. Japan needs someplace else, a big market to sell its rice - China. And the Chinese will be able to enjoy the great taste of Japanese rice.

The agreement was signed hours before China's Premier was to arrive in Japan for a three-day visit, the first such visit by a Chinese premier in seven years.japanese.rice.jpg

Last year Japan exported just 900 tons of rice to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore while importing 70,000 tons from the United States, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand and China under a World Trade Organization import quota.

Now…it's Japan's turn to do the selling.

Have you ever had Japanese rice?
