
Suzuki Motor Co. has more than half the market share of four-wheeled vehicles in India...not four-wheel drive vehicles...cars, autos, that sort of thing.
But...Indians drive motorcycles at a six to one ratio and the first vehicle of choice for new drivers is the motorcycle. If they only knew it was easier and safer to drive a vehicle with four wheels than one with two.
Suzuki wants some of that two-wheel action. ![]()
Suzuki's Indian motorcyle plant, with its army of 14 welding robots that were made in Japan, and 11 that were built in India, plans to start rolling out 150cc-engine motorcycles and automatic transimission scooters.
Suzuki has just a 1% market share in the two-wheelers far far behind Honda's 40% share. But...if they (Indians) love our cars, then they will surely love our bikes as well...is not a bad philosophy to build on.
