2008 Olympic Games to be Cussing and Smoke Free

by BBelew57 on March 12th, 2007

I don't know why an Olympic athlete would want to smoke or be around reporters, politicians, big wigs, smoozers or other who do. Now, they, the athletes, don't have to think about it.

Smoking will be banned at the main sports venues during the Beijing 2008 games.

Smokers will have to go to special smoking zones…preferably an Olympic marathon distance away to kill themselves.smoke.free.gif

Considering the number of people who smoke in China, this is no small ban.

The smoke-free zones are expected to be enlarged as the games approach.

Additionally…the Olympic Committee is asking for/encouraging citizens to speak in a civilized manner and refrain from cussing during the sports events. They can curse afterwards if they lose, but NOT during.

I had a Japanese mother-in-law who used to curse at me. And despite how well I spoke Japanese, I couldn't catch what she was saying.

It seems to me that if Chinese curse…only the Chinese will know.

Would it matter if they cursed to the foreigner or not? Who would know?
