No more anti-satellite tests

China says it will not conduct any more anti-satellite tests.

Why would they? They already know they can do it?

Before China successfully destroyed one of its own old orbiting weather satellites on January 11th, only the United States and Russia had carried out such experiments.

The two countries put a moratorium on such experiments in 1985 because they were afraid of leaving too much debris in space.anti-satellite.missile.jpg

I don't know...it's awful big out there...anyway.

China's national defense minister has said that China will not conduct any more such tests.

"China conducted a scientific and technical experiment," the minister said. "It is (was) not targeted at any country and is not a threat to any country. We do not plan further tests."

North Korea tested a nuclear bomb, or didn't depending on who/what you believe, and now the regime has successfully negotiated movement in sanctions that were opposed against it.

China needed only conduct one such test. To say they will stop now doesn't mean much. The country already accomplished what it wanted...the right to negotiate if necessary.

What do you think?

I think you've used an American Navy fighter to depict a Chinese military story... :)
