Malaysia, Brunei Offer Valentine's Day WARNINGS

Though there are no laws banning Valentine's Day celebrations and florists, hotels and restaraunts are ramping up promotions for the occasion in Malaysia and Brunei.

Religious officials in Muslim-majority Malaysia are urging couples to shun Valentine's Day.valentines.day.jpg

Saint Valentine was a Christian, they say, and

"romantic revelries might prompt impure behavior among young people.
"It is not an advisable practice," said one Muslim state lawmaker. "Unmarried couples might come together and mingle with each other in unacceptable ways."

Spiritual leaders in Brunei expressed concern as well that couples

"might not just send greetings and gifts but ... go beyond the limit and even engage in promiscuous activities."

One Brunei florist was typical in their response - importing 1,000 roses with "thinking of you" and "you are mine" inscribed on the petals.

Lust...for money is definitely stronger than religious convictions for many. But lust for that young lady might be even stronger.

Christians...can't trust them, can you? They will surely lead you into sin.

What do you think?
