Live Pigeons Remote Controlled

by BBelew57 on February 27th, 2007

Some people have too much time on their hands.

Some Chinese dudes, er, scientists, successfully implanted some electrodes into the brain of a pigeon so they could successfully and remotely control the bird's flight.

The "Robot Engineering Technology Research Center at Shandong University of Science and Technology in eastern China used the micro electrodes to command the bird to fly right or left, and up or down."pigeon.jpg

Previously the same institute successfully controlled mice.

Ain't it great? Instead of the ideal warrior, mice and pigeons can be sent in to the job. Oh…and we could put a camera on the pigeon's head. Lots of ideas come to mind.

What I want to know is what happened to all the pigeon's that were used in test flight?

"No, right, right, right! OOooo! I bet that wall hurt."

What would you like to be able to control remotely?
