20 Happiest Countries in the World

by BBelew57 on February 16th, 2007

"An analytic social psychologist at the University's School of Psychology, analysed data published by UNESCO, the CIA, the New Economics Foundation, the WHO, the Veenhoven Database, the Latinbarometer, the Afrobarometer, and the UNHDR, to create a global projection of subjective well-being: the first world map of happiness."

Notable Asian countries, with their booming economies, crazy growth and top ranking in the world in terms of per capita income, access to education, and good healthcare….didn't make it into the top fifty.

China ranked higher than Japan at number 82. Japan was number 90 of the 178 countries that were ranked.  India was number 125. Half of Russia is in East Asia. The country ranked 167 of 178.happy.campers.jpg

The top twenty are:

1. Denmark

2. Switzerland

3. Austria

4. Iceland

5. The Bahamas

6. Finland

7. Sweden

8. Bhutan

9. Brunei

10. Canada

11. Ireland

12. Luxembourg

13. Costa Rica

14. Malta

15. The Netherlands

16. Antigua and Barbuda

17. Malaysia

18. New Zealand

19. Norway

20. The Seychelles

The United States was number 23, Germany 35, UK, 41, and France was 62.

Gee…I didn't realize I should be so happy.

Last time I looked Bhutan and Brunei were both in Asia and feature 8 and 9 on your list. However, point well taken and they’re not exactly the powerhouses of Asia either of them are they.
