Three Reasons Why Tech Giants want increase in H-1B visas
Lobbyists are heading to Washington to demand that Congress increase the number of foreign computer software techs and engineers.

Microsoft, Intel and others are saying they suffer a shortage in those fields - thus the need.

One writer calls this a bold-faced lie.

She says the real reasons are:H1-B.jpg

1. Cost-cutting: H-1B visa holders are paid much less than Americans. I am not sure there is a problem with wanting to saver money.

2. The influx of H-1B visa holders depresses the "prevailing wage" for all computer techies and engineers. Once again, and why wouldn't a company want to keep wages down?

3. The hiring of H-1B visa holders prevents potential competition from Americans who might choose to work for other firms or start companies of their own. And, if it the American cannot do the job better = more cheaply and with better quality - then who has a problem?

I think the American has a problem, NOT the Indian or Chinese worker who comes to take his/her place or gets the job anyway when the job is sent overseas.

What do you think?
