Hollywood wins copyright suit against Sohu in China
Another victory for intellectual property rights.
According to the Motion Picture Association, Hollywood movie studios have won a $139,000 (1.1 million yuan) lawsuit against Sohu.com Inc.
Sohu.com Inc. runs some of China's most popular Web portals.
Sohu.com got itself in trouble for posting digital files of motion pictures for
downloading.
The movies involved were Lord of the Rings, Dawn of the Dead, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
The Motion Pictures Association estimates that about $2.3 billion was lost due to piracy in 2005.
And, now they are dancing in the streets because they got like .00006% of that back.
Seriously…any IPR inroad is good. And the more China develops products they (China) does NOT want stolen, the more serious they will become.

Here’s the part I don’t understand: how could the MPA have any damages at all for the movies that were banned in China anyway?
