
Hunan province announced plans for one plant in Yueyang and another in Taohuajiang.
This third plant will have six 1,000-megawatt reactors and be located in Rushan, Shandong province.
The completion date is set for 2015.
China, and rightfully so, sees nuclear power as a clean alternative to importing oil and burning its own dirty coal reserves.
Nuclear power is a clean alternative, of coure, providing it is managed properly.
China doesn't have to deal with all the political hassle, NIMBY nutcakes and such as well.
China would like to pull alongside France which gets some 80% of their electric needs from Nuke plants.
Hmmm...25 years and a couple of dozen well managed nuke plants from now and China couldn't be sitting pretty.
