Lenovo says it is not yet ready to sell Lenovo-brand phones outside of China. The key word is yet.
Lenovo boss, William Amelio, says Lenovo has enough on their plate - the build up to Beijing 2006 and the plan to go global. Launching a mobile phone brand world-wide is a low priority.
In the past three years Lenovo phones in China have climbed from number 12 to number four.
Amelio, speaking in Singapore, says that Lenovo is, however, "brewing something in the background" with regard to low-cost PCs.
Lenovo works with Microsoft in its Flexgo program in India. PCs can be bought for a much cheaper price or pay per use.
Lenovo is a world player and can make a signifcant difference in whatever field they take aim at - mobile phones or low-cost PCs.
I am looking forward to the 2008 games and Lenovo's global launch.
How about you?
