The Golden Resources shopping center has been dubbed the "Great Mall of China."
The building has a floor space of 560,000 meters or 15 times the size of Tiananmen Square - the world's largest public square. That is about 2.3 square miles of retail space!
There are more than 1,000 shops on five floors. The building also has cinemas, tennis courts and an ice skating rink. It is more than 1.5 times the size of the Mall of America and that place has its own indoor amusement park.
One person's heaven is another person's hell. My wife would go nuts there...and so would I.
It has parking for 10,000 cars.
The mall was built by a Chinese-Filipino investor with an aim to be the world's largest. Russia's great mall is bigger now, I think.
Great Malls are a new phenomenon for Chinese shoppers, who like to manhandle merchandise before and after they buy, return and buy what they really want.
Is it likely that malls in China will catch on?
What do you think?
