PepsiCo announced that it was giving its Chief Financial Officer, Indra Nooyi, a promotion. She was going to be CEO of PepsiCo.
All the Indians I know in the valley have stopped their week long cricket matches to offer congratulatory remarks.
Indeed, it is something for Indians to be proud of.
Indra Nooyi was born, raised and educated in India. She emigrated to the US and climbed the ladder. Now, at 50 years old she is CEO of PepsiCo which also owns Frito-Lay, Gatorade, Tropicana and Quaker Foods.
Agricultural processor, Archer Daniels Midland is the largest Fortune 500 company with a female CEO. PepsiCo is next.
Indeed, this is a remarkable accomplishment for anyone to become CEO of such a huge company. That accomplishment is magnified when the CEO comes literally to the other side of the world, learns the ropes, climbs the ladder and reaches the top.
My hat is off to Indra Nooyi!
