GE CEO, Jeff Immelt, Has High Praise for China

Jeff Immelt, GE Chairman, thinks more about China than how much money his company can make in China…though I am sure that is always in the back of his mind.

"Not only do I view China as a market, but I also view it as a center of excellence in technology and manufacturing that can benefit all of our products all around the world," he said.

Hear that? China has good quality engineers and scientists and they have a contribution to make to the world.

GE has nearly 13,000 employees in China. Some of these employees plan to focus on ‘advanced experimental technology’ for sustainable economic growth.

How unusual, an American company with a long term strategy…..

GE also said it will provide management and leadership training for more than 2000 Chinese mangers and government officials. The first class in the curriculum for the government dawgs is ‘ethics in business’….

Anyway, until someone gives me reason to otherwise, I applaud GE’s long term view, investment in the future, training initiatives and emphasis on a clean future.

All of this is part of GE’s "Ecomagination" initiative = GE is trying to sell more environmentally friendly technology to China and the world.

This, too, is a good thing…one of America’s best teaming up with China’s best… and if it starts with clean…it certainly has a future.

Great ideas in my book.
