Mr. Yang Yuanqing, CEO, Lenovo - Bridge to Business (part 2)
Mr. Yang Yuanqing, CEO of Lenovo recently spoke at a round table panel discussion. The previous day he had agreed to spend $16 billion and keep his company from stealing anymore. After those agreements, he, president Hu and Bill Gates had carry out from Mr. Chau’s.
Mr. Yuanqing shared with the group how Lenovo got its start.
The company was founded in 1984 with $25,000 in seed money with the purpose of commercializing research results. He likened Lenovo’s start to Stanford helping Intel and HP getting started.
Lenovo, he says, was founded on free market principles. It holds 1/3 of the PC market share in China.
And the part I liked best….he said… "We relied on hard work to get started and in the end we beat the state owned companies."
Hard work is cool. Beating the big guy is cool. Until I learn otherwise, for now, Lenovo is and their way of doing business in China is cool, too.
What do you think?
