Michael Ducker, Executive Vice President of Fedex recently spoke about the opportunities FedEx has in China.
Fedex present has 1200 employees at the Guangzhou Airport. Because of Fedex, nearly $11 billion dollars of business will be added to China by 2010 and $63 billion by 2020. Those are indeed lofty goals, no?
FedEx has 26 daily flights to China and last year FedEx began overnight delivery to New Delhi from China. Uh...that's huge.
I thought that the US was China's largest trading partner. Nope...according to Ducker, the EU is.
However, the greatest opportunity for FedEx might be the Chinese domestic market. China is making inroads (literally) on improving its highway system. No doubt, an improved highway systeme within the country will have a great impact on the delivery business...not only Fedex.
Does anybody remember the impact the highway system had on the US in the 50's?
Why won't an improved highway system have a similar impact on business in China?
