In China anything sounds gorgeous in the US will be very appealing to people here.
Generation Y in China is particularly infatuated with American lifestyle. They love watching NBA, wearing Nike running shoes, meeting people at Starbucks shops, and learning English (According to a research conducted by Financial Times, there are more than 200 million people who are now studying English in China whereas there are only 240,000 people in the US who have learnt Chinese )
The influence of American culture towards generation Y in China is very significant!!!
to some extent, people always go crazy when given new freedom. i know when i moved out of my parents house, i stayed out late and did things that were not allowed while i was living at home, mostly it was simply that i could. this to me seems more like an expression of newfound freedoms rather than a long-lasting great idea.
My Chinese father-in-law (almost 70) is totally obsessed with the NBA and he may be less than one third in size of most of them. He knows ALL of their names. I recognize, uh, Bryant and James and that’s about it.
Even Pres. Hu wanted to stop by at Starbucks.
Thanks for your comments Hubert.
That’s a great example, Jamese. People do thing because they can.
What interested me was that the old people in the cities where these nude photos happen say – “Why doesn’t our government do something?”
Instead of monitoring themselves, they want someone else to do it for them.
Americans are warming up to China. My past blogs have shared some of the statistics that have been gathered to support hat claim. Yesterday, I received an email from a fellow blogger, China Confidential, pointing me to a story for…

Jamese hit the nail on the head. I think that there is certain room in chinese culture for such things. We like to call it western but in reality it has no mirror on any American or western tradition I am aware of. From my experiences in asia I think that its a good excuse in asia to say something is ‘American’ if it is funky or different; which in a way is a good thing because it gives the thing a certain amount of inherent quality to exist that otherwise would not be possible.
I need more information about this your web site.and i what to marry a china girl.
